That is so incredibly gross. What hunters do is infinitely more humane than sticking that poor animal upside down and struggling in a metal cone and letting it bleed to death. Palin is obscene.
Funny enough, its probably the most humane to kill a bird. Most birds that are shot, are shot with bird shot, and that just pokes little holes all over them. And if you don't drain the bird of blood, then you don't get a very good meat flavor, or so I've been told. Thus, live bleeding, so it can be drained of blood.
