Death is a tricky subject. I talk about talking about it in the current issue of Free Inquiry.
When my children were very young, I stayed away from discussing the subject of death with them. Nothing ever happened to make the topic inevitable: no pet died, no grandparent passed away, no president was shot. The word "dead" was used for speaking about nothing more alarming than dead batteries and dead leaves....The rest is here.
I look forward to reading this issue, which contains about a dozen articles about dying. Plus articles by Peter Singer, Christopher Hitchens, and Richard Dawkins.
